Alan Robert is best known for being the bassist and primary-songwriter for the hard rock band Life of Agony. The popular New York-based group has shared stages all over the world with the biggest names in rock for over three decades. As a result, Life of Agony built a die-hard following and has sold over one million albums to date. Life of Agony's debut "River Runs Red" was named "One of the Greatest Metal Albums of All Time" by Rolling Stone, and lead-off track “This Time” was included in Rolling Stone’s Greatest Metal Songs of All Time list. In 2019, the band released their 6th studio album, “The Sound of Scars” and was named ALBUM OF THE YEAR by The Aquarian. Most recently in 2024, Life of Agony returned with The Crow (In Memory of B.L.) and Revolver Magazine named it as one of the best new songs upon its release.

Outside of music, Robert is a best-selling author and artist. He has written and illustrated several critically acclaimed comic book series, graphic novels, and coloring books. Revolver Magazine dubbed Alan Robert "The King of Horror Coloring Books" after several of his Beauty of Horror coloring books appeared on Amazon's Top Ten Best Sellers List.
In September, 2016, Volume One of his hit series The Beauty of Horror was released and caught the attention of GQ, Buzz Feed, The Huffington Post, The Wall Street Journal, CNBC, and Nerdist, who praised it as "The World's Creepiest Adult Coloring Book."
