The Coalition Group (sister firm of Radical Studios) has partnered with Wasted Talent Entertainment (Crawl to Me) to produce the Jack Reher (Grizzly, Corrosion) penned screenplay, based on Alan Robert’s forthcoming IDW comic series The Shunned One. Robert, along with his producing partners Chris White (V/H/S Viral) and Jeff Mazzola (Descent) round out Wasted Talent Entertainment. Glenn Allen, co-founder of Emmy-winning Brainstorm Digital (The Wolf of Wall Street, Boardwalk Empire) is also on board as VFX Supervisor.
The Shunned One centers on an angel of death who goes rogue after refusing to take innocent human lives. His actions alter balance in the universe, causing a chain reaction of unforeseen disasters. As a result, a pack of vengeful death angels are sent down to hunt him. He must hide amongst the humans while trying to undo the damage he’s done.
“To watch this thing take shape as a film, even before the comic is released, is pretty amazing,” says Robert. “I think what interests people most about the property is that it isn't a typical, Biblical take on angels, whatsoever. It's a whole new mythology. You've never seen angels like this anywhere before.”
An exclusive first-look at The Shunned One comic will hit stands this Halloween inside the back pages of Killogy, another IDW comic created by Robert. IDW Publishing expects to launch The Shunned One comic series in early 2015. The books are written and illustrated by Robert, with cover paintings by acclaimed Italian comics artist Francesco Mattina.
"We couldn’t be more excited about participating in bringing Alan’s vision to life,” said Johnny Wunder, The Coalition Group's Director of Development. "In combination with Jack’s writing and Alan’s imagination I think The Shunned One will give us a unique, grounded look at The Guardian Angel.”
The Shunned One marks Robert’s third property to be adapted in recent months. Rodar Y Rodar (The Orphanage) will produce Crawl to Me with Wasted Talent Entertainment as a live-action feature, with Victor Garcia (The Damned) attached to direct a screenplay written by TJ Cimfel and David White (V/H/S Viral), and award-winning writer/producer Rodney Barnes (The Boondocks, Everybody Hates Chris) is currently developing Killogy as an animated television series.

Ex-Misfits horror-punk legend Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein will star in a special Halloween edition of Killogy, a comic book created, written and illustrated by Life of Agony’s Alan Robert and published by IDW Publishing (Godzilla, Transformers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles). The critically acclaimed Killogy graphic novel was originally released in 2013 with characters based on celebrities Frank Vincent (Goodfellas, Casino, The Sopranos), Marky Ramone (Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, the Ramones) and Brea Grant (Heroes, Dexter). The Halloween one-shot comic continues where the Killogy story left off and introduces new character, Doyle, as humanity’s last hope in a post-apocalyptic world flooded by an ocean of blood. The Ghastly Awards recognize outstanding achievements in Horror Comics over a range of 15 different categories. The nominees are chosen by other horror comic book professionals and winners are chosen by a panel of judges.

San Diego, CA (July 19, 2013) - The Orphanage producer Rodar y Rodar has teamed up with Crawl to Me creator Alan Robert and his producing partners Jeff Mazzola (Descent) and Chris White (My Super Psycho Sweet 16 franchise) to adapt the critically acclaimed IDW Publishing graphic novel.
Victor Garcia, who helmed the upcoming Gallows Hill (starringTwilight's Peter Facinelli), is in the director's chair for the character-driven psychological horror film with a screenplay penned by TJ Cimfel and David White. Glenn Allen, Co-Founder/VFX Producer of Emmy-award winning Brainstorm Digital (Boardwalk Empire) is on board as VFX Supervisor. Producers aim to shoot interiors on a sound stage in Spain, where Rodar is based, and exteriors in Canada.
In 2011, the Crawl to Me comic book miniseries, written and illustrated by Robert, was published by award-winning IDW. The series was later collected into a graphic novel and sold out within days of its January 2012 release. IDW followed up its success with three more editions: an oversized hardcover Evil Edgar Edition, and two more top-shelf versions through their IDW Limited division.
The film takes place in an isolated country town during the frigid winter months. It centers on a young family as they cope with a series of disturbing events that force them to question their relationship, their faith and their very existence.
"Being a part of the process in making this film a reality has been an amazing journey for me," said Robert. "We've built a team of incredibly talented people around this project who are all super passionate about telling this story. The dark subject matter is extremely delicate and had to be handled right. It is in excellent hands." Robert recently announced his fourth partnership with IDW to publish his next horror series The Shunned One in 2014.

Three strangers, all accused of murder, sit impatiently inside a dingy police holding cell waiting to be arraigned. One by one, the characters recount the events which led to their unforseen arrests and, to their surprise, their stories are mysteriously intertwined. Each of the self-contained issues are told in stand-alone format, easy for new readers to jump in. The ironic twist endings will feel reminiscent of those found in The Twilight Zone.
