KILLOGY ANIMATED SERIES IN DEVELOPMENT FROM THE EXECUTIVE PRODUCER OF THE BOONDOCKS

Award-winning executive producer/writer Rodney Barnes (The Boondocks, Everybody Hates Chris) has joined forces with Robert to develop an animated television series based on Killogy. Barnes and Robert will serve as executive producers on the series, with Barnes penning the screenplay for the pilot episode. Celebrities Frank Vincent, Marky Ramone and Brea Grant, who all appeared in the Killogy graphic novel, will now lend their voices to the show. Producers Chris White (My Super Psycho Sweet 16 franchise) and Jeff Mazzola (Descent) are also on board.

Killogy leverages a unique mix of humor, horror and pop culture to tell the unique tale of a group of murderers who inadvertently unleash an ancient voodoo curse upon New York. “For me, it’s all a bit surreal,” says Robert. “I basically get to mash-up some of my favorite childhood heroes, throw them into these outrageous situations, and sit back and imagine what happens next. The series practically writes itself!”

"I'm happy to see the worlds Alan has created extend into new areas beyond comics," said Chris Ryall, IDW's Chief Creative Office/Editor-in-Chief. "His comic books are so visually intriguing and the characters he's created so fully formed that they'll translate really well into animation and other areas. But I'm also glad that he's still doing more comics, and the Killogy one-shot sounds like a perfectly dark treat for Halloween, too."

Killogy was nominated for Best Mini-Series at the 2013 Ghastly Awards and picked up a Horror Comic Award for Best Scene from ComicMonsters.com. Bloody Disgusting listed Killogy at #4 on their Top 10 Best Mini-Series of 2013. The Killogy graphic novel was recently licensed out to territories outside of the U.S. and will see a Brazilian release this summer from publisher NFL ZINE. The book will be translated in Portuguese. Killogy-Doyle-CoverEx-Misfits horror-punk legend Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein will star in a special Halloween edition of Killogy, a comic book created, written and illustrated by Life of Agony’s Alan Robert and published by IDW Publishing (Godzilla, Transformers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles). The critically acclaimed Killogy graphic novel was originally released in 2013 with characters based on celebrities Frank Vincent (Goodfellas, Casino, The Sopranos), Marky Ramone (Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, the Ramones) and Brea Grant (Heroes, Dexter). The Halloween one-shot comic continues where the Killogy story left off and introduces new character, Doyle, as humanity’s last hope in a post-apocalyptic world flooded by an ocean of blood. “To witness this little story develop into what it’s become is quite mind-blowing to me,” Says Robert. “It’s true horror in the sense that it’s meant to scare the reader to the core. Not just visually, but emotionally, too. Edgar is as terrifying as villains get and not just because of the vulgarities we actually see on the page, but more so, because of what’s implied in between the panels.”

Crawl To Me is both written and illustrated by Robert, with a beautifully painted dust jacket by artist menton3 of Monocyte fame. It’s part psychological thriller and part haunted house story. Ain’t it Cool News praised it as being “Gorgeous and terrifying,” while Fangoria raved, “Readers will be blown away by the story and art of this psychological thriller.”  Crawl To Me was awarded Best Mini-Series of the Year by ComicMonsters.com and Hollywood is already taking notice. Crawl To Me is currently in development to become a live-action feature film, with a screenplay penned by screenwriters T.J Cimfel and David White.

“Alan’s like no one we’ve ever seen. Incredibly talented, incredibly motivated.” Says Editor-in-Chief Chris Ryall. “He comes in with these amazing, really dark, really twisted ideas. And you’re thinking, there’s no way a story like that can be pulled off in such a tight page count, and then the pages get here, and they’re complete home runs. Any series from Alan is a thrill.”

“CRAWL TO ME” (IDW) GRAPHIC NOVEL SELLS OUT DAYS AFTER RELEASE. “SAW” CINEMATOGRAPHER ATTACHED TO DIRECT LIVE-ACTION FILM ADAPTATION

Image

New York, NY – (January 10, 2012) The first printing of Alan Robert's critically acclaimed horror graphic novel, Crawl to Me (IDW Publishing), has sold out within a week of its release. As a result, the award-winning publisher is currently scheduling a second pressing. In related news, director David A. Armstrong, cinematographer for the successful box-office hit franchise, Saw, is now attached to direct a live-action adaptation of Crawl to Me for the big screen. Armstrong is currently directing the indie hostage drama, Pawn, starring Michael Chiklis (The Shield, Fantastic Four) and Academy Award winner, Forest Whitaker with Ray Liotta and Common supporting.

"The last few weeks have been a whirlwind of excitement, to say the least,” says creator, Robert. “Crawl to Me has already exceeded all of my expectations. Creating comics has been a life-long passion of mine and I’m extremely grateful to be given the chance to tell my crazy stories. To see them come to life on film is a whole other level of awesomeness. I love horror movies, especially the ones with shocking twist endings like The Sixth Sense and The Others, so it's my goal to create that same type of jaw-dropping impact with Crawl to Me."

The Crawl to Me graphic novel, written and illustrated by the Life of Agony bassist, collects the four-issue mini-series and boasts a beautifully painted cover by Monocyte artist, Menton3. The book's introduction is written by the legendary Walter Simonson (Thor), who happens to be Robert's former cartooning teacher.

"I knew Alan Robert had juice with his Wire Hangers series, and Crawl to Me is even more of a singular creator's vision come to life,” said Chris Ryall, Chief Creative Officer / Editor-in-Chief for IDW Publishing. “To then see that graphic novel get voted Best Mini-Series of the Year by horror fans at ComicMonsters.com and now sell out its initial press run is very gratifying and appreciated. Even more, it speaks to the market for more unique comics amidst a world of superhero relaunches and big licensed comics."

Robert recently guest-starred on the hit TLC show, NY Ink, where he went under the needle by the show’s lead female tattoo artist, Megan Massacre. The ink he received was based on the Crawl to Me cover art painted by Menton3.
