The story is stellar and is elevated to an even greater height by splashed-out artwork that celebrates the plot’s pure carnage. “To witness this little story develop into what it’s become is quite mind-blowing to me,” Says Robert. “It’s true horror in the sense that it’s meant to scare the reader to the core. Not just visually, but emotionally, too. Edgar is as terrifying as villains get and not just because of the vulgarities we actually see on the page, but more so, because of what’s implied in between the panels.”

Crawl To Me is both written and illustrated by Robert, with a beautifully painted dust jacket by artist menton3 of Monocyte fame. It’s part psychological thriller and part haunted house story. Ain’t it Cool News praised it as being “Gorgeous and terrifying,” while Fangoria raved, “Readers will be blown away by the story and art of this psychological thriller.”  Crawl To Me was awarded Best Mini-Series of the Year by ComicMonsters.com and Hollywood is already taking notice. Crawl To Me is currently in development to become a live-action feature film, with a screenplay penned by screenwriters T.J Cimfel and David White.

“Alan’s like no one we’ve ever seen. Incredibly talented, incredibly motivated.” Says Editor-in-Chief Chris Ryall. “He comes in with these amazing, really dark, really twisted ideas. And you’re thinking, there’s no way a story like that can be pulled off in such a tight page count, and then the pages get here, and they’re complete home runs. Any series from Alan is a thrill.”

Three strangers, all accused of murder, sit impatiently inside a dingy police holding cell waiting to be arraigned. One by one, the characters recount the events which led to their unforseen arrests and, to their surprise, their stories are mysteriously intertwined. Each of the self-contained issues are told in stand-alone format, easy for new readers to jump in. The ironic twist endings will feel reminiscent of those found in The Twilight Zone. Frank Vincent, famous for his various roles in Goodfellas, Raging Bull and The Sopranos stars as Sally Sno-Cones alongside Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Marky Ramone, and actress Brea Grant, popular for her roles on NBC's Heroes and Showtime's Dexter.

ALAN ROBERT’S HIT GRAPHIC NOVEL, “CRAWL TO ME”, LANDS SCREENWRITERS

Crawl to Me: Evil Edgar Edition (IDW) - Cover art by Menton3 New York, NY – (April 24, 2012) The first printing of Alan Robert's critically acclaimed horror graphic novel, Crawl to Me (IDW Publishing), sold out within a week of its release, back in January 2012. As a result, the award-winning publisher will be pressing a special hardcover version this summer, titled Crawl to Me: Evil Edgar Edition. As previously announced, director David A. Armstrong, cinematographer for the successful box-office hit franchise, Saw, is attached to direct a live-action adaptation of Crawl to Me for the big screen. Additionally, screenwriters, David White and T.J. Cimfel have recently signed on to pen the Crawl to Me screenplay. Robert will produce, alongside his partners Jeff Mazzola (Descent) and Christopher White (My Super Psycho Sweet 16 franchise).

"It’s exciting to watch this thing come to life by people who are super passionate about telling this story," says creator, Robert.  “Over the last few months, we’ve received about a dozen different treatments from various writers to adapt the property. I can safely say that T.J. and Dave’s unique take on the material definitely stood out from the rest. We’re extremely proud to announce that they’ve officially joined the team.”

David White and T.J. Cimfel wrote the contained thriller Shut In, which is currently under option at Ombra Films.  Additionally, Cimfel's supernatural thriller No Tell Motel was recently produced by Enderby Entertainment and is scheduled for release in late 2012.

Crawl To Me really appeals to us because it builds a haunting story around an emotional and intelligent core. It has characters you can connect with, yet doesn’t sacrifice any of the visceral thrills you want from a good horror story. It's the perfect combination for us to tackle,” says, White and Cimfel. “The artwork really drew us in. It’s a dark story, but it’s told through these beautiful images that you can’t turn away from. And there’s a cinematic flow to the action—the story’s screaming to be put on the screen.”

The Crawl to Me graphic novel, written and illustrated by the Brooklyn-bred Life of Agony bassist, collected the original 2011 comic series with a painted cover by renowned Monocyte artist, Menton3.  The introduction for the book, was written by Robert's former cartooning teacher and legendary comics artist, Walter Simonson (Thor).

Robert’s upcoming Killogy comic series is slated for an October 2012 release through IDW Publishing. Major announcements coming shortly!

Image

New York, NY – (January 10, 2012) The first printing of Alan Robert's critically acclaimed horror graphic novel, Crawl to Me (IDW Publishing), has sold out within a week of its release. As a result, the award-winning publisher is currently scheduling a second pressing. In related news, director David A. Armstrong, cinematographer for the successful box-office hit franchise, Saw, is now attached to direct a live-action adaptation of Crawl to Me for the big screen. Armstrong is currently directing the indie hostage drama, Pawn, starring Michael Chiklis (The Shield, Fantastic Four) and Academy Award winner, Forest Whitaker with Ray Liotta and Common supporting.

"The last few weeks have been a whirlwind of excitement, to say the least,” says creator, Robert. “Crawl to Me has already exceeded all of my expectations. Creating comics has been a life-long passion of mine and I’m extremely grateful to be given the chance to tell my crazy stories. To see them come to life on film is a whole other level of awesomeness. I love horror movies, especially the ones with shocking twist endings like The Sixth Sense and The Others, so it's my goal to create that same type of jaw-dropping impact with Crawl to Me."

The Crawl to Me graphic novel, written and illustrated by the Life of Agony bassist, collects the four-issue mini-series and boasts a beautifully painted cover by Monocyte artist, Menton3. The book's introduction is written by the legendary Walter Simonson (Thor), who happens to be Robert's former cartooning teacher.

"I knew Alan Robert had juice with his Wire Hangers series, and Crawl to Me is even more of a singular creator's vision come to life,” said Chris Ryall, Chief Creative Officer / Editor-in-Chief for IDW Publishing. “To then see that graphic novel get voted Best Mini-Series of the Year by horror fans at ComicMonsters.com and now sell out its initial press run is very gratifying and appreciated. Even more, it speaks to the market for more unique comics amidst a world of superhero relaunches and big licensed comics."

Robert recently guest-starred on the hit TLC show, NY Ink, where he went under the needle by the show’s lead female tattoo artist, Megan Massacre.
